+ Seoul-based design studio working across objects, spaces, and brands. studio Kim. is rooted in industrial design — and refuses to stop there. Practical Sculpture: decorative and formally resolved, without surrendering utility. Where most design chooses between ornament and function, studio Kim. holds both: pieces with real purpose, real character, and details that earn their place.

+ We grew up in the age of functionalism. We learned to strip things down, to justify every line, to treat ornament as noise. We still believe in that discipline — but we don't stop there.
There is space beyond the essential. Space where form earns the right to be felt, where detail exists not to decorate but to reward. We work in that space.
studio Kim. makes Practical Sculpture — with the clarity of purpose, the resolution of form, and something left to discover.

+ 서울을 기반으로 오브젝트, 공간, 브랜드 전반을 다루는 디자인 스튜디오. studio Kim.은 산업디자인에 뿌리를 두되, 그 범주에 머무르지 않습니다. Practical Sculpture — 장식성과 조형적 완결성을 갖추면서도, 기능을 포기하지 않는 디자인. 대부분의 디자인이 장식과 기능 사이에서 선택할 때, studio Kim.은 두 가지를 동시에 지향합니다. 실제 용도를 지니고, 분명한 캐릭터를 가지며, 모든 디테일에는 그 이유가 존재합니다.

+ 우리는 기능주의의 시대에서 자라났습니다. 불필요한 것을 덜어내고, 모든 선에 이유를 부여하며, 장식을 노이즈로 다루는 방식을 배웠습니다. 그 규율은 여전히 유효하지만, 우리는 거기서 멈추지 않습니다.
본질 너머에는 또 다른 영역이 존재합니다. 형태가 감각될 이유를 얻고, 디테일이 장식이 아닌 경험으로 작동하는 공간입니다.우리는 그 지점에서 작업합니다. studio Kim.은 Practical Sculpture를 만듭니다 — 명확한 목적, 완결된 조형, 그리고 여전히 발견할 여지를 남긴 채.

Kare Sansui vase, made using Jesmonite material. Utilizing the water resistance and precise form of the Jesmonite 700 model, this vase embodies Eastern beauty. Ikebana, one of Japan’s three major art forms, represents both the art of flower arrangement and spiritual discipline. Similarly, the Kare Sansui, or dry landscape garden, also emphasizes spiritual refinement and beauty. Inspired by this concept, the modern practice of flower arrangement is seen as a way to cultivate both beauty and spiritual discipline.

Jesmonite 700 모델의 뛰어난 내수성과 정교한 형태 구현 특성을 활용하여 동양적인 미를 담아냈습니다. 일본의 3대 예술 중 하나인 이케바나는 단순한 꽃꽂이를 넘어, 미적 표현과 정신 수양을 함께 아우르는 예술입니다. 또한 가레 산스이(枯山水), 즉 건식 정원 역시 정신적인 수양과 절제된 아름다움을 중시합니다. 이러한 개념에서 영감을 받아, 본 작업은 현대의 꽃꽂이를 아름다움과 정신적 수양을 함께 기르는 하나의 방식으로 바라보고자 합니다.
