Stone stool

Stone Stool은 골판지 가구 브랜드 Paper Pop과의 협업을 통해 개발된 모듈형 스툴이다. Paper Pop의 대표적인 조인트 시스템을 기반으로, 단일 제품뿐 아니라 연속적인 조립이 가능하도록 기획되었으며, 다양한 환경에서 유연하게 활용될 수 있도록 설계되었다.  

제품은 B2B 기반의 모듈 가구로, 대규모 인파에 대응해야 하는 전시, 행사, 공공 공간 등에서 벤치, 스툴, 인스톨레이션 등 다양한 형태로 확장 가능하다. 하나의 오브젝트로서보다, 군집 형태를 이루었을 때 조형적 특성이 부각되도록 디자인되었으며, 이 과정에서 주상절리 지형에서 받은 형상적 인상을 조형 언어로 해석하여 적용하였다.  

제작 과정에서는 재활용성을 저해하는 컬러 프린팅을 배제하고, 검정색 골판지를 메인으로 선택하여 환경적 고려를 반영하였다.



Stone Stool is a modular stool developed in collaboration with Paper Pop, a brand known for its cardboard furniture. Leveraging Paper Pop’s signature plastic joint system, the stool was designed to allow continuous assembly, enabling flexible configurations in various environments.  

Developed as a B2B-focused modular product, the stool is intended for use in spaces that accommodate large crowds—ranging from exhibitions and events to public areas—scaling from small seating units to expansive installations. Rather than standing out as a singular object, its visual identity is amplified when placed in clusters. The design language draws inspiration from the geometric character of columnar jointing rock formations, translating that impression into a systematised form.  

In consideration of sustainability, the project intentionally avoided colour printing methods that hinder recyclability, and adopted black corrugated cardboard as the primary material.
